Melody's Sewing Classes

Group and individual classes for children, teens and adults are available by arrangement. Parent & Child classes can be scheduled in your home. Please call to discuss your needs. See the class list below for the types of classes taught.

Adult (18+) Sewing

 

Teen (14-17) Sewing

Pillowcase (Level 1)

Create a pillowcase for yourself or as a gift. Learn how to operate a sewing machine, how to use sewing tools, and the language of sewing. Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Class supply list provided after pre-registering. Select fabric after the first class.

3 sessions, 1 ½ hrs. per session
Maximum class size: 8 students

Skirt (Level 2)

Make a stylish drawstring waist skirt with colorful fabric. Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Pattern included in cost of class Select fabric after the first class.

4 sesssions, 1 ½ hrs. per session
Prerequisite: must have attended a Level 1 class
Maximum class size: 8 students

Friendship Quilt (Level 2)

Learn the basics of quilting while you make a Friendship Quilt. Swap fabric with your friends in class and make a 9 Patch quilt that will be tied to finish. Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Class supply list provided after pre-registering using form below.

4 sesssions, 1 ½ hrs. per session
Prerequisite: must have attended a Level 1 class
Maximum class size: 8 students

Easy Top (Level 3)

Learn how to follow a pattern while you sew an easy top. Have something new to wear for school! Bring your machine to class or borrow one. Select fabric after the first class. Pattern included in cost of class.

4 sesssions, 1 ½ hrs. per session
Prerequisite: Attended a Level 1 class and a Level 2 class
Maximum class size: 8 students

 

Preteen (9-13) Sewing

Striped Pillow (Level 1)

Create a Striped Pillow for yourself or as a gift. Learn how to operate a sewing machine, how to use sewing tools, and the language of sewing. Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Class supply list provided after pre-registering.

3 sessions, 1 ½ hrs. per session
Maximum class size: 8 students

Shorts or Skirt (Level 2)

Make a elastic waist Skirt or pair of Shorts by with colorful fabric. Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Class supply list provided after pre-registering. Pattern included in cost of class.

4 sesssions 1 ½ hrs. per session
Prerequisite: must have attended a Level 1 class
Maximum class size: 8 students

Polar Fleece Hat, Scarf & Mittens (Level 3)

Get ready for winter with a Polar Fleece Hat, Scarf & Mittens decorated with flowers, buttons, eyes, and even ears! Do some simple sewing and lots of decorating! Bring your machine to class or borrow one from us. Class supply list provided after pre-registering.

4 sesssions 1 ½ hrs. per session
Prerequisite: must have attended a Level 1 and Level 2 class
Maximum class size: 8 students

 

Simply Open Sewing
Taught at Fabric Depot (SE 122nd & Stark)

A bi-monthly sewing class for those with unfinished objects hiding in the closet! An open session that provides a bit of help for those who need assistance finishing a sewing project. Hem a skirt, repair a buttonhole, shorten some curtains, or finish that pattern that you never seemed to have time to complete.

Get reacquainted with your sewing machine or borrow one of ours. Take advantage of the sewing school's large cutting tables, big ironing boards and large work space.

Sessions are designed for those who have taken sewing classes or have moderate sewing skills but need a bit of help or just a comfortable place and a specific time to get it done!
